Years ago when I decided to pursue trusteeship, I chose to let my name stand because it was a place where I could get involved in an area important to each of my children. I love having a leadership role in education and as a result continue in my role as a trustee. With the recent election, I completed 30 years as a trustee.
Since education is the key to success for everyone, it is vitally important for each student to be challenged, engaged and to discover the love of learning. My personal goal as a trustee is to provide excellence in education while managing a significant budget.
In 1976, I graduated from the SRSS and subsequently pursued a post-secondary Diploma in Christian Education. My wife Helen is a nurse in the ER Department of Bethesda Hospital. We attend the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church, where we are actively involved. We have four grown children who are all married and have given us eight grandchildren. These grandchildren attend Steinbach and Niverville schools.
For the past nine years I have been employed at Alliance Door Products, first as a Territory Manager, and more recently as Director of Sales. Prior to Alliance, I was in sales at Loewen Windows for 30 years.
My personal interests are canoeing, backpacking, fishing and reading.
