Safety Notice

UPDATE – June 5, 2024 @1:00pm

The Hold and Secure at NHS, NMS, and NES has now been lifted. The RCMP has advised us that it is safe to do so. All schools remain open, and classes will run as scheduled.

We would like to thank our students, staff, and parents for their cooperation and understanding. The safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance, and we are grateful to the RCMP for their assistance in ensuring our schools are safe for all.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

There was an incident involving police in the Niverville Community that took place in the early morning hours of June 5th. As a result, there is a significant police presence today near our Niverville schools and throughout the community.

We are aware of the situation and have communicated with the local RCMP. In an abundance of caution, all Niverville schools are currently in a Hold and Secure. Students in NHS, NMS, and NES will remain inside their schools today, including recess and lunch. Parents may choose to pick up their children for lunch or drop off a lunch, or the schools will ensure children are provided with food.

If you have any questions, please contact the school principal. We will provide an update as more information becomes available.

Respectfully,

Colin Campbell, Assistant Superintendent
Hanover School Division
