Can I register my child at the school office, or call to pre-register?

We encourage all applicants to register online as this is the most efficient means to collect the necessary information. If you do not have access to the Internet, please visit the school nearest your place of residence for assistance. Staff will assist you in completing the registration form on a school computer. Please note that schools are closed during the summer months, and re-open Aug. 21. Online registration forms will continue to be processed during the summer months.

Which catchment school should I select on the registration form?

Students are required to attend the school within the catchment area in which they reside. Click to View Catchment Area Maps. If unsure of your designated catchment school, proceed with online registration and select “unsure” in the respective drop-down box provided on the registration form. HSD will confirm your child’s designated school based upon address provided.

I will be moving to the Hanover area, can I register for the catchment school where I intend to live?

Yes, but you must provide proof of purchase or rental agreement that verifies address of residence.

May I choose to send my child to an HSD school outside our designated residence catchment area?

The Schools of Choice initiative facilitates parental/student choice, within limits, in selecting the public school best suited to the student’s learning requirements. If planning to make application for School of Choice, first proceed with online registration based upon current residence catchment –  then follow instructions on how to apply for School of Choice. School of Choice Applications have a provincially-mandated deadline of May 15.

If I have additional questions, who can i ask?

Send an email to info@hsd.ca, and we will be happy to assist you.
