I live in Mitchell with my husband Anders and three children, Vaughn (Grad of 2022), Sienna (Grade 11), and Nadia (Grade 7). I am the photographer and owner of Charmaine Toews Photography. I have a photography studio in my home and specialize in portraiture. I attend Crossview Church in Steinbach and enjoy watching football, travelling, and doing crossfit with my friends. I am passionate about education and look forward to working with the other School Trustees to support HSD and make policies that benefit all students. I heard from many parents, teachers, and grandparents as I campaigned for this role. I want to continue those conversations and make myself available to listen to questions and concerns.
I grew up attending Blumenort School and graduated from the SRSS. I went on to attend Providence College where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. For the last 8 years I have been involved in the Parent Advisory Councils at my children’s schools: Mitchell Elementary, Mitchell Middle, and SRSS.
I served in the roles of PAC Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. I also have 7 years of board experience with the Professional Photographers of Canada. Four of those years were spent on the National Board as Treasurer. I hope to use this experience to help with strategic planning, cooperative leadership, and budget decisions.
