Dear Parents/Caregivers,

As you may already know, building the social-emotional learning (SEL) skills of our students is an important goal. Between Mar. 13, 2023, and the end of this school year, schools will schedule a time for their respective students (Grades 3-12) to participate in an online survey to collect information on various topics at school. We will continue to use the Panorama Education survey platform to gather student feedback for this purpose.

Students in Grades 3-5 will complete a survey of 31 questions, whereas students in Grades 5-12 will complete a total of 39 questions. Both surveys have questions from the following categories; school belonging, school climate, school engagement, school safety, grit, and school teacher-to-student relationships. Students can ask their teacher any clarifying questions while taking the survey, and each survey should take 15-20 minutes to complete. Students will access the survey link on the HSD website and complete the survey using an HSD Chromebook, iPad, or desktop computer.

We are asking that all eligible students participate. The results will provide invaluable insights into their learning experiences and how we can improve and adapt our school division to meet their learning needs. If students do not have enough information to answer a question or prefer not to answer, they can skip the item altogether. Your child’s survey responses will be kept completely confidential.

If you have any questions about the SEL survey, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school. For those who want to review the survey, a copy will be available at your child’s school (main office). Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot distribute the survey.

Our goal is to continue providing an excellent education for your child, and compiling this student feedback will be extremely helpful in our planning. We thank you for being our valued partners as we work together to educate your children.
