Steinbach, MB. January 19, 2018 – Hanover School Division is pleased to announce the start of the tender process for construction of a new 66,700 sq. ft. high school in the town of Niverville. The new school will serve 450 Grade 9-12 students, and have expansion capacity for up to 550 students.
As previously announced, the location of the new school provides opportunity for the development of a community campus, a future co-location with the Town of Niverville’s proposed Community Resource Centre. Building towards a community campus concept provides opportunities for synergies of use between the two facilities, strengthens community ownership, and provides additional value for public funding. The facilities can operate independently of each other, yet benefit from shared infrastructure development costs and operational efficiencies.
At the request of the Town of Niverville and in support of the process to secure all sources of funding for the proposed Community Resource Centre, the Public Schools Finance Board has agreed to proceed with a two-phase tender process for construction of the new school. Scheduled for September 2019 completion, the first phase will include all elements of the school with the exception of the drama room, band room, and child-care facilities. School spaces not included within the first phase of construction, will be completed by the spring of 2020. Separating construction of the new school into two phases provides the Town of Niverville greater opportunity to secure necessary funding for the proposed Community Resource Centre.

Niverville is one of the fastest growing communities in Manitoba and the addition of a new high school will help ensure that Niverville lives up to its motto of Where You Belong.”
