Summer Learning Institute

Preparing Early Career Teachers

The annual HSD Summer Learning Institute was held August 20-22. Designed for first and second year teachers, the primary focus of the institute is on preparing early career teachers for a strong start to the school year and equipping them with tools to thrive in their new careers.

Over 35 teachers participated in this year’s event, representing various grade levels and schools from across the division. The Summer Institute highlights the HSD Deeper Learning Plan and how to create a culture of learning in preparation for the first days of school. Teachers had the opportunity to learn about relationships and attachments from a Neufeld Institute presenter and to engage in learning experiences with the Superintendents and the Learning Coaches.
