Superintendent’s Office

August 25, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of our Welcoming Students Back: Restoring Safe Schools plan, HSD is committed to providing you with ongoing updates and communication.

Masks
The Government of Manitoba has mandated the use of non-medical masks in all schools. As per the provincial directive, all students in Grades 4-12, and all staff and visitors are required to wear non-medical masks where 2-metre physical distancing is not possible. Bus drivers and all school bus passengers in Grades 4-12 are required to wear non-medical masks on the bus. Parents/Guardians will continue to choose whether students in Grades K-3 should wear a mask.

We understand that for some parents/guardians, the mask requirements are a concern. We respect the diversity of opinion and value your constructive feedback; however, Hanover School Division must follow safety protocols set forth by Manitoba Education and the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer. Mask requirements in schools are provincially mandated. The EngageMB website remains the best forum for parents/guardians, caregivers, and students to post questions and give feedback.

School Plans
A reminder that your child’s school will communicate their Back to School Plans on Friday, August 28. School offices are open today.

Video Message
Next week’s update will include a video message for all parents/guardians, which will include some examples of safety measures being put in place to ensure our schools remain safe and engaging learning environments.

Respectfully,

Shelley Amos, Interim Superintendent/CEO
