Steinbach, MB. Apr. 19, 2026 – Hanover School Division confirms that a fire occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Steinbach Regional Secondary School.

The fire was contained to a section of the school’s carpentry shop and was extinguished quickly due to the building’s fire suppression sprinkler system and the prompt response of the Steinbach Fire Department. The division extends its sincere thanks to firefighters for their swift and effective action, which helped limit damage.

Cleanup is currently underway, and a full assessment of the affected area is in progress. At this time, no disruption to classes is anticipated, and the school is expected to remain open and operate as usual.

The school has communicated directly with parents. Further updates will be provided if necessary.
