Our Commitment

Accessible Information Communication Standard

The Hanover School Division is committed to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all students, staff, and visitors. We are committed to identifying, preventing, and removing barriers to accessibility in ways that allow for those with disabilities to maintain their dignity and independence.

  1. We will inform our employees, students, applicants, potential applicants and their parents and guardians that information and educational materials are available through a communication support or accessible format on request.
  2. We will consult with the person requesting accessible information or educational materials to identify the support or format that would remove the barrier.
  3. Accessible Services Chart, Wheel Chair, Braille, Large Print, Assistive Listening, Closed Caption, Sign LanguageWe will provide information, including educational materials, requested in alternate formats or through communication supports in a timely manner and not impose a cost or fee that would not be imposed on a person who did not make a request.
  4. We will provide comparable educational materials when a specific material cannot be provided, using the identified accessible format or support.
  5. We will ensure web content that is required to access our goods and services, and all newly published web content, aims to meet or exceed WCAG. 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
  6. We will ensure that new and updated web applications meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
  7. We will welcome and respond promptly to feedback we receive on the accessibility of our information, communication and educational materials. We will document the actions we take to respond to the feedback we receive, and will make that information available on request.
  8. We will provide the required training on accessible information and communication to those who develop or maintain our web content, purchase or procure information technology or communication tools, develop or implement our accessible information and communication policies and practices, or provide information to the public or to other organizations in Manitoba.
  9. We will keep a written record of accessibility and training policies, including a summary of our training materials and when our training is offered. We will let the public know that our accessibility and training policies are available upon request.
