My name is Shayne Barkman and this is my first term as serving as a school trustee for Ward 2. Growing up, I would never have expected to add “school trustee” to my resume; but watching my three children enter the school system, I knew I wanted to have a positive leadership role in their school education.
My main goal as a school trustee is to ensure that every family has a voice, and I am honoured that I was elected to be that voice for you. I want to continue to uphold the values that Hanover School Division was built on and continue to find ways to keep children engaged and inspired throughout their school years. I want to continue to ensure that our tax dollars are used wisely and where they are needed the most.
I am a husband, a father, the owner of a local oil seed and grain farm, a hockey player, a university graduate with a degree in Agribusiness, a person who is passionate about financial management and planning and now a school trustee.
