Supporting Northern Communities

Trevor Thiessen, Director of Facilities for the Hanover School Division and Volunteer Fire Chief in Morris, recently travelled north to assist communities facing a severe wildfire threat.
Thiessen and Shelby Fehr, a volunteer firefighter and full-time paramedic, responded to a massive 71,000-hectare wildfire near Lynn Lake and Marcel Colomb First Nation. They joined local firefighting teams and crews from Brandon to help protect homes and infrastructure.
Driving a pumper tanker more than 15 hours from Morris, the pair spent five days on the ground. Their work included setting up sprinkler systems on homes, the local hospital, and the school—key buildings that were in the path of the approaching fire.
HSD is proud to recognize the efforts of staff members like Trevor, who go above and beyond to serve and support communities across Manitoba.
